Letter from Mr Tankard
Dear Families,
It is with regret that I have to write this letter, but I feel it is important to address some of the misinformation, lies, and rumours that have been circulating online.
Firstly, I want to thank our families for their patience at the end of the school day while a child received medical attention. Our priority was ensuring his safety and well-being, and we know his family appreciated all of your support.
However, what we do not appreciate are the rumours and speculation that have been shared online, some of which have called into question the safety of our school. I want to be absolutely clear—the incident that occurred yesterday was an unfortunate accident between two close friends while they were trying to fix a broken plastic football net. There was no intent whatsoever, and the children were being supervised at the time. It was simply an unfortunate event.
What is most upsetting is the thought that the child’s family might come across some of the untrue and harmful statements being shared online. I would ask all families to consider carefully what they post online, as I would hope that we all want to respect the privacy of the child and their family at this time.
Several families asked us what had happened at the end of the school day. Please understand that we will never disclose personal information about a child to anyone other than their family.
I love East Dene, our families, our pupils, and our staff. We all work together to make our school a happy, safe, and caring place to learn. If you have any concerns or questions, please come and speak to me, Mrs. Middleton, or Miss Wild. I think you all know by now that we will always do whatever we can to make our school a special place for every child.
Thank you for your continued support.

Mr Tankard
