Bullying

At East Dene Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, caring and inclusive environment where every child feels respected, valued and able to achieve their full potential. We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and that bullying of any kind is never acceptable.

Bullying is repeated behaviour that is intended to hurt, intimidate or upset another person. It can take many forms, including physical, verbal, emotional and online (cyberbullying). Bullying can have a significant impact on a child’s confidence, wellbeing and ability to learn, which is why we take all reports seriously and respond promptly.

We encourage our pupils to treat one another with kindness, empathy and respect. Through our curriculum, assemblies and wider personal development programme, children learn about positive friendships, celebrating differences, resolving conflict appropriately and knowing how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or someone else.

We want every child to feel confident that they will be listened to. If a child experiences bullying or witnesses bullying happening to someone else, we encourage them to speak to a trusted adult as soon as possible. All concerns are investigated thoroughly and dealt with in line with our Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policies.

We value our partnership with families and encourage parents to contact us if they have any concerns about their child’s wellbeing or relationships in school.
