History
Introduction to History
The overarching aim of this history curriculum is to inspire pupils’ curiosity and interest in the past and help them develop a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It aims to enable pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. Children will be able to make connections between different time periods, groups of people as well as think critically about life today compared to the past.
Children will experience a stimulating and suitable curriculum, looking at how historians understand the past as well as learning the ‘what’. By the end of their time at East Dene, they will be able to evaluate, think critically and engage with sources, interpretations, chronology and wider historical knowledge.
